Over the past four years, The Telemeer Institue has been working in collaboration with Burton Snowboards and Bluesign Design to develop a new material for snowboard production based entirely on seawaste. The new line of snowboards dubbed the "Atlantis Series" is set to launch in retail markets next week. The project aims to use the burton manufacturing volume to attack the massive amount of petroleum based consumer waste that currently exists in a floating mass in the Pacific Ocean. Literal tons of material are being extracted from the floating mass and shipped to California, where they are blended and combined with a synthetic algae developed here at Telemeer to melt the material back to its liquid petroleum state, to then be reshaped and hardened for use in the manufacturing of Burton Snowboards. Projected disposal impact is aimed at removing 8% of the floating mass within a 7 year period. The initiative to supply large corporations with petroleum resources from the Floating Mass is being posed towards such companies as Starbucks and Honda.
